A Stony Brook University transit bus collided into a 22-year-old undergraduate student at approximately 10 a.m. this morning, according to the University Police Department.

“SBVAC, Stony Brook Hospital EMS and the Setauket Fire Department responded to treat the student who was transported to the Emergency Room for treatment of what are believed, at this time, to be non-life threatening injuries,” UPD Assistant Chief of Police, Eric Olsen, wrote in an email.

The two students on the bus at the time as well as the driver sustained no injuries.

Police from Suffolk County’s 6th Precinct responded to the accident and the Motor Carrier Safety Section inspected the bus. No criminality is suspected.

“We are providing care and support to the student who was injured today and are wishing for his speedy recovery,” Richard J. Gatteau, Interim Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Division of Student Affairs wrote in a statement sent by the university’s media relations officer.
