The Stony Brook University softball team lost both games of a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon to the Rutgers University Scarlet Knights, dropping the first game 4-0 and the second one 6-1. The opening loss was Stony Brook's first at home in eight games on site.
Stony Brook softball had an impressive weekend, sweeping UMBC on the road in Baltimore with a combined score of 34-4. Thanks partly to freshman Allison Cukrov’s record-tying 11th shutout of the season, the Seawolves improved to 8-1 in the America East.
Stony Brook softball needed just four and a half innings to put away Hartford on Sunday, which finished off a three-game sweep. Starting pitcher freshman Allison Cukrov pitched well again for the Seawolves, as she picked up her eighth victory of the season. She gave up just four hits and struck out four batters in five innings of work.
