The Undergraduate Student Government (USG) at Stony Brook announced the results of the 2019/2020 election on Friday, April 6. Candidates from the SB United party won all seven positions on the executive council.
Shaheer Khan — who won 55 percent of the vote with 959 votes in total — will become USG’s next president. Mohamed Heiba will take on the role of executive vice president, Maame-Esi Otoo will serve as VP of clubs and organizations, Hadi Mohammed will be the next VP of student life and Justin Ullman will fill the position of VP of academic affairs.
Adrian Ortega and AT Bianco both ran unopposed. Ortega will serve another term as treasurer and Bianco will take over the position of VP of communications.
Although the Phoenix Party was shut out from all the executive council positions, they were able to pick up some Senate seats. Winning candidates from the Phoenix Party include Syeda Hasan who will serve as a College of Arts and Sciences senator, Kevin Mahon and Pujan Patel who will serve as College of Engineering and Applied Sciences senators, Eileen Escobedo who will serve as health sciences senator and Chloe Rosette who will serve as the junior class senator.
The remaining Senate seats were all filled by members of the SB United party, except for the College of Business Senate seat and the sophomore class senate seat which were filled by independent candidates Faride Morcos and Mahambe Toure.
