Junior Allison Cukrov dominated her opponents this week, and in honor of this, the America East Conference decided to name her Pitcher of the Week. Cukrov went 4-0 this week and allowed a total of three runs in 26 innings, en route to the victories against Columbia, Hofstra and a pair against UMass-Lowell for the first place Seawolves.
She had more than one strikeout per inning, posting a total of 29 during the week and the opposition batted .108 against her. She is now tied for first in the conference with 14 wins, and has won nine straight decisions. She also has not lost a game since March 8.
Cukrov is doing more than just winning games. She is all over the leaderboards in the conference, posting a top five effort in the five big pitching stats (ERA, Opponents BA, Wins, Strikeouts, Innings Pitched), including top two in all but ERA.
She has struck out 41 batters looking, the most of any pitcher in the conference. She has also appeared in a league-leading 29 games, four more than Jessica Holte of UMBC.
The Irvine, Calif. native will look to continue the road to defending the conference championship, along with sophomore Jane Sallen, as the two pitchers have combined to win 10 of their last 12 and have compiled a 10-1 conference record. They currently sit two games clear of rival Albany.
Stony Brook has two conference series left, with one coming this weekend at home against Maine. They will then close out their season on the road in Binghamton with a three-game set against the Bearcats before the conference tournament.
