The sun is beating down on your face and all you want to do is take the day off and head off to the beach to get that tan that you’ve been getting from a bottle all winter long. But with finals looming, all you’re doing is trying to catch up with the extensive amount of studying and looking over material that you’re sure you’ve never seen before. You’re overcome with dread, worrying that you’ll fail your finals and consequently fail life. Don’t fear- here are some tips that will help you on your way to ace this semester.
1. DON’T CRAM! Study a little every night. It’ll help you better absorb the material and leave you less likely to want to kill yourself after 24 hours of straight studying. 2. Take Study breaks. So Important! Taking 10-15 minute breaks stretching, snacking, or facebooking will leave you refreshed to come back to your beloved Biochem textbook. 3. Study with friends- after you’ve already studied. Studying with friends helps reinforce ideas; however, study before just in case you get more hanging out and less studying done. 4. SLEEP! Not for 24 hours straight, but a good night’s sleep will help you get that A. You might feel the need to pull those all-nighters, but trust me, getting a good night’s sleep or at least a good 4-5 hours will help you stay awake during your finals. 5. Most important tip of all- DON’T STRESS! You’ve studied. You know everything there possibly is to know. Now breathe. Stressing out will only leave you anxious, worried and with a gorgeous pimple on your face. So relax. You are ready!
The place to study on campus: HSC Library. This place is so quiet; you can hear a pin drop. You can focus on your notes, instead of the noise.
However, if you intend to study into the wee hours of the night, the main library is your best bet. It’s open until 2:00 AM.
Other places to study: Any Starbucks location. You can get your coffee fix and a comfortable atmosphere to hone those study skills.
