After playing in a historic game this past Sunday, the Stony Brook women’s soccer team could not get their offense rolling in Boston.

The Seawolves (4-6-2, 1-1-1 CAA) traveled to Parsons Field for their third conference game of the season against the Northeastern Huskies on Thursday. Stony Brook’s offense could not carry the momentum from a 12-goal performance against Hampton and was shutout 3-0 in Northeastern’s favor.    

The Huskies gained an early lead 10 minutes into the match when forward Nina Dooley scored off of an assist from midfielder Alexis Legowski. The Seawolves’ defense continued to play their hardest against the Huskies until another goal was scored by forward Megan Putvinski off of an assist from midfielder Jessie Hunt in the second half. Northeastern capped off their scoring in the final 12 seconds of the match when defender Jane Kaull scored off of an assist from forward Avery Levangie.

All three Huskie goals were the first of the season for Dooley, Putvinski and Kaull.

Stony Brook was outshot by their opponents, as Northeastern took 17 shots with 11 landing on goal. Kaull and Dooley both made one shot on goal alongside their respective goals, while Legowski made three on goal.   

The Seawolves’ offense managed to take 11 shots with five on goal. Four shots were attempted by forward Reilly Rich and one landed on goal. Her shot team-leading shot total is up to 40 on the season.

One of the highlights for the Seawolves was a strong defensive effort by goalkeeper Nicolette Pasquarella. Pasquarella was able to save eight shots on goal from the Huskies and played all 90 minutes. Her eight saves marks her second highest total on the season. The Stony Brook goalkeeper has not recorded lower than six saves in the matches she has played the full 90 minutes.

Northeastern goalkeeper Holland Stam made five saves, four of which came in the first half, as Stony Brook struggled to generate any form of offense in the second half.    

The loss marked the second shutout of Stony Brook this season. Their match against Penn on Sept. 11 also ended in a 3-0 loss.

Stony Brook will stay on the road for their next game against the Monmouth Hawks on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. The Hawks are coming off a 1-1 tie against Hofstra on Thursday.
