Stony Brook soccer player charged with DWI

A player on the Stony Brook men’s soccer team was arrested for drunken driving on Sunday, Sept. 4.

According to court records, senior forward Kameron Blaise is charged with four misdemeanors, including driving while intoxicated.

The Suffolk County Police Department made the arrest at 1:06 a.m.

Blaise has a court date of Oct. 13 on his charge. He is also charged with driving with a suspended registration and disobeying a traffic control device.

Blaise was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 5 after scoring a game-winning goal against Hofstra on Saturday. Blaise has appeared in 23 games for the Seawolves since 2020.

Blaise was not in the lineup for the Seawolves’ Sept. 6 game at Columbia. The team’s Instagram account removed a post celebrating Blaise’s Player of the Week award.

The Stony Brook athletics department declined to provide a comment for this article. The Suffolk County Police Department could not immediately be reached.

The Statesman is currently verifying additional details about the incident. This article will be updated if those details are confirmed.
