In the fall of 2023, Stony Brook University’s School of Communication and Journalism (SOCJ) created a new class called JRN 390 (Special Topics in Journalism: Working News Room #2) in which students help local news publications that may not have enough resources to provide news coverage for their communities.
“It was like a slap in the face that they took our money for four years and can’t even make an effort to tell us that they plan on rescheduling it,” she said.
Spring break, originally scheduled for March 16 to March 20, will be extended until March 27. The announcement comes only two days after the university officially announced that it would be moving classes online.
Stony Brook University united 26 State University of New York campuses at the Charles B. Wang Center for a two-day exploration on how to tackle gender inequality.
The semi-formal event brought together over 150 students of all cultures and backgrounds for a night of free food and live performances in SAC Ballroom A.
Last April, Stony Brook finished second in the Campus Conservation Nationals event against Albany, SUNY IT and SUNY New Paltz. SBU saved a total of 41,081 kilowatt-hours.
The United States Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights is investigating Stony Brook University and 75 other colleges and universities for their handling of sexual violence cases.
