Tennis earns seventh straight win

The Stony Brook women’s tennis team continued its winning ways with a weekend sweep of Cornell and Niagara. The team defeated Cornell by a score of 5-2 on Saturday and and then shut out Niagara in a 7-0 rout.

Shania Johnson and Akwasi Yeboah win Player of the Week honor for third consecutive week

Senior guard Shania “Shorty” Johnson and redshirt-junior guard Akwasi Yeboah have wasted no time taking the helm of the women’s and men’s basketball teams, respectively. Both are averaging over 17 points per game and have already been recognized as America East Player of the Week for three consecutive weeks.

Women’s Basketball defeats Cornell 63-61 in nail-biter

Stony Brook Women’s Basketball fended off the Cornell Big Red’s late comeback attempt in a thrilling 63-61 victory on Saturday, Dec. 1. “I thought that we came out a little slow compared to how we had been playing so I like how we were able to come from behind,” head coach Caroline McCombs said in a press conference.

Men’s Basketball comes back late in regulation, wins in overtime

Despite trailing 22-0 in the first half and committing an accidental technical foul in the closing seconds of the game, Stony Brook Men’s Basketball fought back and won 77-74 in overtime over George Washington University in the season opener on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
