In collaboration with the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center, the Stony Brook University Libraries hosted a lecture presented by Lewis Kachur on the nuances of early New York surrealism that took the idea to the next level.
The fourth annual “Art in Focus” lecture series began with a presentation delivered by art historian Helen A. Harrison that explored the role of jazz as a possible influence in the work of abstract expressionist artist Jackson Pollock.
Bright hues and colors, unshapely forms and curves make up the abstract art of “Native Turf,” at the Lawrence Alloway Gallery, located on the first floor of the Frank Melville Jr. Memorial Library.
