CulinArt, the company Stony Brook University contracts to run the University’s food services, has been cleared of previous allegations of financial fraud against Stony Brook’s Faculty Student Association (FSA) after a third-party investigation failed to find any wrongdoing by the corporation.
Stony Brook University’s Faculty Student Association (FSA) celebrated International Coffee Day with its first-ever coffee sampling event on Sept. 29. International Coffee Day was declared an official holiday in 2014 by the International Coffee Organization, and takes place on Oct. 1.
Stony Brook University’s Undergraduate Student Government (USG) hosted its longest meeting of the year on March 2 in the Student Activities Center with less than 10 students in the audience, covering issues spanning from the CulinArt investigation to Faculty Student Association (FSA) updates.
CulinArt used Stony Brook funds to pay employees working at other locations, misreported how much money they spent on dining hall food and avoided obligations to split their profits with the university.
Students with unlimited meal swipes used to be able to use said swipes at Delancey Street in the Emporium without any limitations. When unlimited access ended, kosher-keeping students were left confused.
SBU students are expressing frustration about food quality on campus. Scores of students on social media sites such as Reddit, have been complaining about poor food quality, sanitation and hygiene issues and food poisoning.
#OPINIONS: SBU should not make statements on current events involving racism and brutality, when the university fails to hold their leaders and staff accountable for their unethical actions.
The competition strives to motivate students to recycle and reduce waste, promote on-campus recycling programs and encourage school administrations to track waste production so recycling measures can be improved.
