Typically an offensive-driven team, the Stony Brook men’s basketball team locked down shooters to send its senior class off with a 66-50 win over the Albany Great Danes on Saturday, Feb. 26.

In its sixth game, the Stony Brook men’s basketball team finally accomplished something it had yet to do this season — notch a hard-earned blowout victory.
Despite a 22-point first-half lead, the Stony Brook men’s basketball team had to fight to the final buzzer to avoid a late collapse. However, a career-high 22 points from Frankie Policelli was just enough to beat the Yale Bulldogs 85-81 on Nov. 28.
Two seasons ago, Stony Brook graduate guard Elijah Olaniyi came into his own, solidifying himself as a star as a junior by putting up averages of 18.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. The Seawolves finished 20-13 and in second place in the America East, but were bounced by Hartford in the semifinals of the conference tournament.
The Stony Brook men’s basketball team was going to enter the America East Tournament. Although success from beyond the arc in a first game win offered hope that the team was turning a corner, the Seawolves could not carry it over to the second game.
