After scoring a historic ten goals against UMass Lowell on Friday, junior attackman Brody Eastwood was honored with his second America East Co-Player of the Week award.
Eastwood’s career-high ten goals are tied for second-most in a game in America East history. He added an assist to round out his already impressive stat line, giving him eleven points on the night.
The star attackman’s efforts lead Stony Brook, scoring half of the Seawolves’ points, as they defeated UMass Lowell, 20-9.
When Stony Brook took on Lehigh, Eastwood looked for a repeat performance. Instead of the amazing ten, Eastwood only netted a single goal in Stony Brook’s 12-11 loss.
He won the spot last week for his eleven goal weekend against 19/19 Princeton and Quinnipiac. Eastwood found the back of the net five times against Princeton and scored six goals against Quinnipiac.
Eastwood’s second 11-goal weekend has pushed him over the 50 goal mark for the season. He has 51 goals for the season, giving him his best scoring season since his freshman year when he netted 44 goals. His next goal will break Kevin Crowley’s single-season record of 51-goals set in 2010.
On the field, Eastwood has been a go-to scorer for the Seawolves. He already leads the team in goals and is looking to take that one step further and break Seawolves history. He is getting ready set Seawolves history, as he is tied with Crowley for most goals in a season. Eastwood is also second on the team in points with 55, trailing senior midfielder Mike Rooney’s 77. Eastwood’s 3.92 goals per game is the second best in NCAA Division I.
Eastwood shared the America East accolade with junior Vermont goalkeeper Justin Rosenberg. Rosenberg stopped 18 of 28 shots against UMBC, giving Vermont its first win against UMBC in program history.
Up next for Eastwood and the Seawolves is a home game against Duke on Wednesday, April 15 at 7 p.m.. Afterwards, they take on their America East rivals Binghamton at home on Sunday, April 19 at 1 p.m..
