After months of practicing for hours on end, the African Student Union finally showcased its work on Friday, April 10, on the neon runway in the SAC Auditorium.
The show this year, titled “Moulin Rouge,” was showcased to a full house. Once the show began, the burlesque theme was supplemented with a voice telling the tale of a young girl trying to make it as a dancer.
While many of the attendees were expecting a lingerie scene—or the “sex scene,” as many addressed it—the fashion portion of the show showcased clothing of African influence, as evident by the patterns. Both male and female models had complete awareness of their roles and their walk and showcased confidence, elegance and playfulness, depending on the collection they were modeling.
The show was an inclusive one, with the participation and attendance of students and alumni from a wide range of backgrounds.
