Stony Brook’s defense against Rhode Island was unstoppable, and it was led by the Seawolves’ defensive back, Tyrice Beverette.
After his dominating defense performance against Rhode Island, the CAA awarded Beverette with the Co-Rookie of the Week award.
In the second half of the game, Beverette had two sacks, two tackles for loss, an interception and a forced fumble. His forced fumble led to a fumble recovery by Julian Quintin, who then took the fumble in for a touchdown. The forced fumble was Beverette’s first for the season.
The interception was also Beverette’s first of the season. His two sacks marked were numbers two and three on the season. He also recorded his third and fourth tackles for loss on the season.
Beverette shares his Co-Rookie of the Week honor with Maine’s Nigel Beckford, who had 138 yards, as well as two touchdowns. Stony Brook plays Albany on Saturday, Nov. 22 in the Seawolves’ regular season finale.
