When Oct. 30 rolls around, there will only be six teams left in contention for the America East Women’s Soccer Championship out of the nine in the conference.

Right now, coach Sue Ryan and the Stony Brook Seawolves are on the outside looking in with four points. Being only one point short of the sixth spot, the Seawolves will be looking to push into the playoffs with crucial games ahead.

With four games left, the Seawolves have three games against teams that would be in the playoffs if the season ended Oct. 12. The only game that they do not face such a team is on Oct.16, when they play host to the Vermont Catamounts in what could be an elimination game for the team that loses.

Stony Brook has gained their stride in its past two games. The Seawolves tied the UMBC Retrievers and defeated the Binghamton Bearcats respectively, and will look to keep that going into the game with Vermont. The Seawolves won last year’s matchup with the Catamounts 2-1 up in Burlington, V.T.

The Seawolves will then head up to the state capital to take on the Great Danes at the University of Albany on Oct. 19, with a matinee matchup at 1:00 p.m. The Great Danes currently sit tied for second place with seven points. The Seawolves blew out their rivals last season 4-0 at home, and will look to do the same again.
