After a rough start, the Stony Brook Volleyball team got back on track with a 3-2 win over Fordham this Tuesday at the Rose Hill Gym.
Senior Kaitlin Costello and great plays from middle blockers Taylor Gillie and Stephanie McFadden particularly helped the team reach the victory.
Sophomore Melissa Rigo and junior Hannah Dolan also played an important role over the match as Rigo posted 14 digs while Dolan served 42 assists.
According to coach Coley Pawlikowski, this victory was a good way to rebound after the chaotic start of this new season.
“I’m glad we came away with the win,” said coach Pawlikowski. “Fordham is a really solid defensive team. Their libero and setter do a really good job and challenged us. It was good to beat a scrappy and aggressive team.”
The Stony Brook volleyball team, which is currently 4-3 on the road, will play its first home game on Friday against New Hampshire at 7:30 p.m.
