The Seawolves are bringing former defender and captain Kyle McTurk back as a volunteer assistant coach. McTurk was a four-year letterwinner for the Seawolves from 2008-2011 and won the America East twice in 2009 and 2011. He started 63 of 71 matches and was part of 20 Seawolves shutouts.
McTurk was named captain of the team and his defense earned him All-America East honors. He was named to the America East Championship all-Tournament team after a Seawolves title.
He grew up on Long Island and was born in Mineola. He attended Smithtown West High School and graduated from Stony Brook in 2011, where he majored in arts & sciences. During his high school career, he was a three-year letterwinner, a two-time All-Suffolk County and an all-conference selection. McTurk also played basketball and lacrosse for the Smithtown West Bulls.
The Seawolves are 3-4-0 on the season and are coming off a 2-0 loss to Central Connecticut. Their next game is Saturday, Sept. 28 at Northeastern, before returning home to face conference rival Albany on Friday, Oct. 4.
