The men’s basketball season got off to a rocky start with a 96-66 loss to the Indiana Hoosiers this past Friday night at the famous Assembly Hall.
The Seawolves faced an uphill battle all game, as they matched up against a high octane Hoosier offense which had no trouble scoring on Coach Pikiell’s normally stingy defense.
Stony Brook led the game 18-14 early as sophomore Anthony Jackson led the charge scoring 14 points on 5-7 shooting while only playing 19 minutes.
His play however did not translate beyond the arc for the Seawolves as the team shot a dismal 5-20 from 3-pt land.
In his first collegiate game back from a season ending knee injury, forward Tommy Brenton did not have much of an impact scoring only two points and pulling down five rebounds. Senior Bryan Dougher scored only four points and dished out just three assists. The Seawolves committed 16 turnovers in the game.
Stony Brook has no time to dwell on the loss as they come home to prepare for their home opener against Mount Ida this Sunday at 2 p.m at Pritchard gymnasium.
