Iron Chef competition spices up Union Ballroom

For the past five years, Campus Dining Services at Stony Brook University has held an annual Iron Chef Competition. This competition pairs four teams of students with Campus Dining’s lead cooks to test their culinary skills. It is similar to the Food Network’s Iron Chef America, right down to the challenge of incorporating a mystery ingredient.

Kitchen fire in Roth temporarily closes food services

Roth Food Court closed earlier today after a small fire broke out in the Wendy's kitchen. The fire took place around 11:20 a.m., according to Food Manager Edward Urena. Urena said the chefs were cooking when oil caught on fire at one of the stations. Wendy's employees were cleaning the area following the incident.

Roth Market: keepin’ it fresh

Last Monday, FSA opened up Roth Market Fresh at the Roth Food Court. This new facility replaces the home market from previous years, which served an array of different foods from mashed potatoes and chicken to burritos and kabobs. Instead of those offerings, Roth Fresh contains a variety of raw meat and fish. Students can choose from several options and have their cut of meat be grilled, baked, or sautéed, and then choose up to two sides to go along with it.
