At Stony Brook University, where over 17,000 undergraduate students attend what USA Today ranked as the ninth most diverse college in America, students with unpopular political perspectives feel they cannot openly voice their opinions.
The start of the semester at Stony Brook University brought with it the largest group of students to move into gender-inclusive housing in the program’s 10 years of existence.
The 21st century has been an era of change, especially within the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities. Equality is of the utmost importance to these groups, and it seems NYC agrees.
