Heading into the weekend, Stony Brook’s baseball team (29-14, 16-4 AE) had the opportunity to clinch the top seed in the upcoming America East tournament.
Stony Brook softball remained in first place of the America East conference after taking two of three games the Maine Black Bears, including a 2-1 nine-inning thriller.
The wins on Wednesday extended the Seawolves' win streak to five games. Offensively, Stony Brook has been daunting during the streak, scoring 47 total runs.
Stony Brook continued to stay atop the America East standings this weekend as the bats exploded for 36 runs in a three-game series with the Hartford Hawks, which they swept.
The softball team came away with a pair of wins this Sunday, as the Seawolves blew past both Morgan State in a 15-0 shutout and Mount St. Mary’s in a 3-2, eight-inning bout.
Stony Brook softball had an impressive weekend, sweeping UMBC on the road in Baltimore with a combined score of 34-4. Thanks partly to freshman Allison Cukrov’s record-tying 11th shutout of the season, the Seawolves improved to 8-1 in the America East.
