Stony Brook University’s Department of Modern Languages is bringing The Lord of the Rings’ Elvish poetry and the battleground of Star Trek’s Klingon warriors to students in the spring ‘24 semester. The new course, “Conlangs: Fictional Languages, Languages of Fiction,” will transport students into the worlds of fictional languages.

“We refuse to remain neutral in the face of bigotry, violence, hate speech, and harassment faced by any student or community member.”

We state our support with them and call for the respect of the sovereign rights of the Oceti Sakowin and the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.
