Olaniyi breaks 1,000 as Stony Brook tops Albany to take back first place

Having conceded first place in the America East after Wednesday’s loss to Hartford, the Stony Brook men’s basketball team reclaimed the top spot in the conference on Saturday, Jan. 18. Stony Brook (13-7, 4-1) rebounded from a close road defeat with a 70-62 victory over the Albany Great Danes (10-9, 3-1) at the Island Federal Credit Union Arena, snapping its opponent’s 4-game win streak in the process.

Wrestling earns #18 ranking in latest NCWA poll

Last year, the Stony Brook wrestling team took the big step of finishing sixth in there conference, and establishing themselves as one of the top club teams on campus. Now, just one month into their second season, they find themselves ranked 18th in the latest National Collegiate Wrestling Association coaches’ poll.

Seawolves set to end season with Empire Clash

Lavalle Stadium will fill up for the last time this football season as Stony Brook closes its campaign against rivals Albany in the Empire Clash on Saturday at 1 p.m. As this game has no true meaning besides pride and development for next year’s Seawolves, the real story will be the buying out of Athletic Director Jim Fiore’s contract.

Seawolves fall in first game of College World Series

Tyler Johnson just wasn’t feeling it tonight. The senior right-hander gave up five runs against the University of California, Los Angeles in the first inning of game one of the College World Series. Despite having several chances, the Seawolves could not overcome the start, and they fell to UCLA 9-1.
