Professor Dennis Sullivan, 71, has been named the Abel Prize's 25th laureate, commonly regarded as the mathematical equivalent of the Nobel Prize. He has worked at ten universities over the course of six decades.

Sir Simon Donaldson was awarded the $3 million Breakthrough Prize in Mathematics on Nov. 9 at a star-studded event in a former NASA airship station in Moffett Field, Calif.
