After winning the opening match and dropping the middle game, the Stony Brook baseball team secured their first series victory of the season by winning a rubber match on Sunday, March 8.
The Seawolves outhit the Tigers in the final two games, but could not make the most of their opportunities as they stranded 26 men on base and fell to 1-6 on the season.
Stony Brook makes its return to Joe Nathan Field on Saturday, Mar. 7 for their home opener — a doubleheader against the CCSU Blue Devils. The hunt for a second straight America East championship is on all the Seawolves’ minds, and they believe they have what it takes to come out on top yet again.
The 6-foot-2 lefty from Rotterdam, New York broke out in 2019. As a freshman, he batted .233 and hit one home run in 60 at-bats. Sophomore year showed slight improvements, with a .263 average and six homers while starting in 54 games. However, it was as a junior when Hamilton began to bloom into full form.
A pair of 1-run losses led to disappointment for Stony Brook, who won just one in the 4-game series that took place from Friday, Feb. 14 to Sunday, Feb. 16.
The Seawolves opened the tournament Wednesday, May 23 with a 2-1 victory over the Maine Black Bears, before falling to the top-seeded Hartford Hawks on Thursday, May 24.
