Political Parties: The Impending Hangover

It seems that every generation has been living on the brink of annihilation for the past 60 years. Perhaps the atomic mentality of a ticking Doomsday clock affects the human subconscious more than originally though. Why does it seem that all of our political pendants are jabbering idiots? Whether it's Glenn Beck's evident need of large doses of lithium, or Michael Moore confrontations with senators about their willingness to stab babies, it's obvious that the political system is broken.
