Why do we collect detailed contact information?
Like with any source for a story we collect contact information so we are able to contact the source for follow up questions and in the case of a letter to the editor, to check the validity of the source and to inform him or her that the letter will be published.
What do you do with my information?
All information given to the Statesman will remain private. Only a select few editors will see your information. If there is a issue or question about your letter we will contact you by phone or email.
Will I know if my letter gets published?
Yes. A representative of the Statesman will call and inform you if the editorial board decides to publish your letter.
Can my letter be edited?
Statesman reserves the right to edit all letters. We will not change the meaning or voice of the letter but editor for grammar and spelling. If there are any major things we will edit we will talk to you first.
How long can my letter be?
Generally all letters should be at about 600 words a piece.
