It has been ten years now since “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace” was released in theaters, and I think I am finally ready to talk about how disappointed I was with all three of the new Star Wars movies. I don’t see how one can even place these three films (episodes I-III) in the same category as the original trilogy (episodes IV – VI).
The first trilogy was groundbreaking from the very start, stunning film viewers with powerful imagery and themes that are almost impossible to entirely pin down in words.
But the latest three films belong with the majority of action films made today – as almost complete garbage. There is no wonder. There is no epic battle between good and evil. There are no great characters. Well, I guess you could say that these elements are there, but they are woven together with the same artistry as, say, “The Fast and the Furious.” Entertain the kids, have some special effects, hire some big name actors, and voil
