Senior goalie Frankie Caridi has picked up her fourth America East Defensive Player of the Week award this season, her previous titles coming on Feb. 18, Feb. 24 and March 10.
Caridi allowed just one goal from the opposing team for the third time this season on Saturday against UMBC, a 12-1 win for the No. 17/16 Stony Brook Women’s Lacrosse squad that is now 8-2 on the season.
Caridi now leads the nation in goals-against average and save percentage, helping lead the Seawolves to a Division I second-place ranking in scoring defense as of March 24.
Caridi’s award may be for the week, but if she continues her immaculate performance she could staple her name in the record books. Her current GAA and save percentage marks would lead the program all-time, bringing up the question: could Caridi be the greatest goalie in Stony Brook history?
