Senior Named America East Performer of the Week
Senior Dana Hastie was named the America East Women’s Track Performer of the Week. The news comes three days after Hastie came in fourth place in the 10,000-meter event at the Mount SAC Relays in Walnut, California. Hastie’s time of 34:14.53 shattered the previous school record set in 1985 by almost two minutes, and is currently the 16th fastest time in the country, making her a NCAA East Regional qualifier.
Season Coming to an End
Besides Hastie, who is a perennial top performer, other Seawolves’ stepped up this year, showcasing their own talents and skills.’ Laura Huet, the Van Dalen Sisters Lucy and Holly, Kerry Salzano, and Lisa Voltaire were consistently placing in the top of their events. The men were also competitive this season, as Tim Hodge, Alex Felce, Daire Bermingham, Melvin Genao, and Justin Miller all performed well.
The future looks bright for the Seawolves, as the underclassmen have been contributing and making a name for themselves. Freshman Carolina Cortes, Ruth Gillespie, Lucy and Holly Van Dalen have been placing in the top ten consistently. These freshmen, along with returning runners Jessie Hampson, Laura Huet, Lisa Volaire, and Stephanie Vos, hope to keep the Seawolves successful next year.
The Seawolves upcoming schedule is a grueling one, with a three day track meet at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and then the Yale Invitational the very next day in Connecticut.
