His skin was BLACK! His heart so pure and that’s a fact Could not see him in the dark cause in the light was Where he belonged His voice to my heart, it was a tender song I loved the way he praised to the Lord Even his hair stood to praise the Almighty hard He was good for my being, for my system like WHOLE WHEAT When we’d depart he would not drain my spirit and cause me to be weak His presence protected me like a SCAB. I’m finally so happy, a hoy! LAND at last! He became my GROUND, and his eyes were BROWN Like rich SOIL, in them there were no implications of his soul being spoiled Together we’d have lots of fun His personality, sweet, like RIPE fruits, like plum When my mind would get lost and drift to the cold He’d draw me back into the light and warm me with words, his CHARCOAL When we’d touch, it would feel like a dream and it would taste like LIQUORISH ice cream I’m so lucky to have found this BLACK cat…In his arms, I’d feel a sense of peace Like at NIGHT when I rested and I longed for sweet sleep To the depts of the UNIVERSE I’d follow this beautifully black man I foreshadow that we could forever be each other’s SHADOW. In him I see me and with him it is real, nothing shallow No blemishes can I find, I’ve finally made up my mind No more mysteries, this is my man And together hopefully we’ll make DIAMONDS
