First came Michael Jackson, then Usher, and now it’s Chris Brown’s time to shine. Chris Brown started out as Usher’s placeholder, some might even say a substitute, but the substitute has taken the originals’ place. ‘Exclusive’ is Chris Brown’s sophomore album and since his self-titled album in 2005.
When he first came out a lot of people didn’t think much of him. They thought he would be one of those artists that would be here today and gone tomorrow. But he has remained at the top of his game, and his new album just solidified his spot.
Chris Brown releases another album full of his teenage loves songs like the track ‘Take You Down,’ and dance tracks like ‘Kiss Kiss’ featuring T-Pain. Listening to ‘Exclusive’ you can tell that at 18 years old, he has not only matured into a man but has also matured as an artist.
Since Chris Brown is a performer and dancing is what he is known for, he has to have good beats on his albums. But some of these beats are crazy. ‘Wall to Wall’ and ‘Kiss Kiss’ are just a taste of the beats on this album, my personal favorite beat would have to be the track ‘Picture Perfect’ featuring Will.i.am.
Not only do his dance tracks have good beats, but his ballads have good beats behind them as well, they are not just your typical slow jams. I would have to say that his best ballad would have to be the track ‘Take You Down’ and with the track
‘With You’ coming in at a close second.
Surprisingly, ‘Exclusive’ is one of those rare albums that just has back-to-back hits. Every single song on this album could be released as a single and easily become number one on the Billboard Charts.
He has six artists featured on this album including T-Pain, Will.i.am, Big Boi, Lil Wayne, Kanye West and Game, but this album would have been a hit without them. Those artists just added to what was already a good album. ‘Exclusive’ is currently number three on the Billboard R&B charts right under Alicia Keys and Jay-Z, which is exactly where it should be.
