When the term ‘white meat’ is mentioned, the first thing that comes to mind is chicken. Chicken has become so popular that most people think it weird to consider any other type of white meat. In most of North America, the second most popular white meat is turkey. This is due to Thanksgiving. Only on this day, the word turkey would be the first thing to come to one’s mind when this holiday is considered.
But why the heck don’t we consider it all year round. Chicken is everywhere and in everything. It is as some people refer to it the’ ‘universal meat.’ That’s what makes it so boring. Who wants to have chicken everyday? Why not deviate from the regular option?
Everything tastes like chicken. Turkey has its own unique taste. And it’s not the turkey that makes you sleepy during thanksgiving. It’s all the carbohydrates, so stop eating so d@mn much and you won’t get sleepy.
It might not seem so, but there are many recipes you can make with turkey. One of my favorites is a turkey burger. It doesn’t taste that different from a real burger and it is healthier. To be honest, there are more chicken recipes and you can’t substitute turkey for everything. Every ingredient is unique except for chicken’hellip;it’s just boring.
When it comes to considering health, turkey does have lower calories and fat content when compared to chicken. Sure chicken liver has less calories than turkey liver but what percent of the population eats liver? It’s not like I hate chicken. I do eat it. Bu when it comes a choice between chicken and turkey, the latter is my way to go.
