The Men’s Cross Country team had a season best finish of eight on Saturday at the Northeast Regional in Boston. Shaun Krawitz, a senior from New Zealand, was the first SB runner to cross the line. His 16th place finish (30:22.10) set the pace for the team. Because of his top 25 finish, he was given All-North East region honors.
After Krawitz came sophomore Alex Felice, who finished 31st, freshman Tim Hodge who came across 3rd, junior Zach Tyerman who was 90th, and sophomore Daire Bermingham, was was 104th.
The Women’s running in Boston was even more impressive. For the first time in program history, the team qualified for the NCAA Championships, which will be held Nov. 19 in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Senior Dana Hastie finished 14th (21:10.50) out of the 254 total runners. Hastie and Laura Huet were both given All-North East region honors. Huet finished 17th (21:17.60). The team had all seven runners cross the finish line in the top 50. Following Huet were freshman Lucy van Dalen, who finished 28th, freshman Holly van Dalen, who finished 29th, and sophomore Jessica Hampton, who finished 30th. The performance was rounded out by senior Kerry Salzano, who finished 33rd, and senior Elizabeth Carlson, who came in 48th.
Stony Brook Cross Country is back in action on Saturday, Nov. 17 in the ECAC/IC4A Championships
