Facebook. Just imagine college without it.
If there was no Facebook, what else would you do with your time? You can’t check up to see if that cute boy in class dumped that stupid girl, or browse through pictures of a party you weren’t invited to– but kind of wish you were.
Let’s admit it; people are nosy and meddlesome and society needs something to fulfill this human nature. We don’t want to own up to this weakness, but we’re all guilty of prying into other people’s lives to keep us going.
When compared to other online communities like Myspace, Facebook always wins. Facebook simply isn’t as sketchy. ‘You can keep [your profile] private, so its not like just anyone can check up on you. You have that choice,’ said our News Editor, Lynn Hsieh.
Facebook is a tool to keep in touch with old friends, and make new ones. In a couple of clicks, you can message an old friend miles away and tell them about what an amazing day you had. Comparatively, you can join a group and meet new people who share the same interests.
Moreover, what better way to attract people to an event going on nearby or even far away? Just send out some invites, have other people send out more, and you got yourself a shindig.
Bottom line is, you all love Facebook and depend on it. It keeps you updated on you’re friends, what’s going on nearby, and how you’re ex best friend is doing.
