Lukasz Ochamnski’s record-breaking 1000 yard freestyle was part of an exciting home win for Men’s Swimming Friday night against Boston College. Women’s Swimming came close against the visiting Eagles, but fell 164-134.
In their first home meet of the season, both the Men’s and Women’s teams had excellent performances from Omer Ozcan, Maja Gudelj, Alexander Kissel, Julian Acevedo and a host of other swimmers who placed in their events. The Men’s 200 Yard Medley finished first with a time of 1:38.44, just edging Boston College‘s team by .2 seconds.
Freshman Ochamnski’s time of 9:34.42 broke Stony Brooks past record in the 1000 yard freestyle, and gave his team 11 points in their 164-134 victory.
Freshman Maja Gudelj and Junior Courtney Teague took first and second place, respectively, in the Women’s 50 yard freestyle, helping the Women’s team pick up 13 points. The Men’s 50 yard freestyle had Seawolves finish in the top three spots, lead by Junior Alexander Kissel’s time of 22.30.
The Men’s and Women’s squads both return to action on Nov. 7th against Fordham University.
