The Seawolves come off an exciting double overtime victory to play host to Division II Bryant this weekend. They are 7-0 in the Northeast 10 Conference (NE10), positioned in first place. Stony Brook is their first non-conference opponent this year.
Bryant makes its second trip to Long Island this year. Three weeks ago, they visited CW Post, a game which the Bulldogs won 24-17.
Bryant has played very well in the NE10. They have scored 217 points, while only allowing 131, an average score of 31-19. They are lead by Senior quarterback Charles Granatell, who has thrown for 1168 yards, 10 touchdowns, and only four interceptions.
As a team, they have rushed for 1607 yards, lead by sophomore Lindsey Gamble, who has accounted for 729 of those yards. They have four receivers who have averaged over 20 yards a game.
On the defensive side of the ball, Marcus Lindsey leads the team with 51 tackles, with 35 solo. As a team, they have sacked the quarterback 19 times, have seven interceptions, and have one safety.
SBU comes off of an emotional homecoming win which went into double overtime, the first overtime at LaValle Stadium. While Stony Brook out gained Maine in all aspects, Maine found a way to hang in there and make a game out of it.
The Seawolves cannot overlook this game, however. Although the Bulldogs are a Division II opponent, they have dominated most of their opponents on the offensive side of the ball, and have shut down their opponents. Bryant has dominated the line of scrimmage on the offensive and defensive side of the ball, and a key in this weekend’s game. Bryant has allowed eight rushing touchdowns and only three the past four games. The Seawolves should come out on top. This will be Bryant’s toughest opponent, and SBU should be able to wear down the Bulldog defense.
This weekend’s game takes place at LaValle Stadium on Saturday. The game starts at 4:00 PM.
