Women’s Soccer Kicks Off Season 2-0
Last Friday August 31st, Women’s Soccer hosted Sienna in their season opener. Freshman Danielle Tenaglia scored the games only goal at the 8:24 mark. Marissa Viola made six saves to help the Seawolves in their 1-0 victory.
On Tuesday, September 4th, the Seawolves saw Trine Allenberg and Aria Tanzi find the back of the net for a 2-0 home win over Iona. Sophomore Marissa Viola recorded her second shut out of the season with three saves. The Seawolves return to action on Friday against the George Mason Patriots. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM
Men’s Soccer Falls to 0-2
Last Friday Men’s Soccer traveled to South Orange, NJ and dropped a 2-0 decision to Seton Hall. Though both teams each had five shots on goal, Seton Hall was able to convert, with goals by Eliseo Giusfredi and Brayan Martinez.
Tuesday the Seawolves faced #25 UCONN, falling 3-0. Collin Geoghegan had the lone shot in the Seawolves second loss of the season. Men’s soccer looks to bounce back against Hofstra on Friday. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 PM
Volleyball Opens Season On the Road
Opening their season on August 24th, the Seawolves played a two day tournament in Buffalo. Volleyball notched two wins over Buffalo and Baylor to finish the tournament 2-1.
Traveling to California, the Seawolves went 1-3 with their lone win against host Cal State Fullerton. Jackie Ahlers starred for Stony Brook, making the All- Tournament Team for her outstanding play during the tournament.
Returning home, the Seawolves hosted St. Johns on Tuesday. Morgan Sweeney tallied 16 kills and an ace in their loss in three games to the Red Storm. Volleyball travels to Seton Hall for a tournament this Friday, facing Fairfield at 5:00 PM.
