Close, but no Championship for Tennis Teams

Both the Men’s and Women’s Tennis Teams saw their season come to an end on Sat. The men’s tennis team advanced to the final round of the America East Tennis Tournament, but fell to UMBC, 4-1. The women’s team fell to top-seeded rival Boston University in the semifinal round, 4-0.

For the men, the tournament started out well, with a quick 4-0 win over Boston University. They won all 3 singles matches that were completed in straight sets, and won 2 of 3 doubles matches to pick up the clinching 4th point. The next day, they played UMBC for their second straight title. They were defeated, having won only the first singles match.

The women got through their first round match with ease, with a 4-1 win over Albany. They won all 3 singles matches that were completed, and an Albany default gave SB their 4th point. They faced Boston University in the semifinal round, and were swiftly handed a 4-0 defeat, with all losses coming in straight sets.
