Facing 41 shots, goalkeeper Jen Sandtorv managed to stop eight. The 15 goals that she allowed are the second most number of goals an SB opponent has netted this season.
Flashing to the second half, the Seawolves found themselves still down 9-7 by the 27:43 mark, after closing in on an early five goal deficit. Katie Savino found the back of the net twice for the first tie since the games opening minutes. Hofstra’s Casey McGrath would then score, setting off a goal for goal tradeoff over the next seven minutes.
Hat-tricks by Savino and Amy Taylor were not enough to give the Seawolves their 13th win of the season, although the loss does not affect their chances for winning the America East Conference. For Hoftra, McGrath had a game-high five goals along with Lauren Whitcomb’s four goals. Hofstra needed only one assist in the game, as 14 of their 15 goals were either unassisted or counted as free position goals.
With 11:05 left in the game, SB’s Amy Hallion, Taylor and Diana Caroleo would combine for three straight goals to give SB their final lead of the game. The momentum did not last very long, as Hofstra would take only 17 seconds to respond, closing the door with their own three goal run.
SB plays one more game on Saturday, Apr. 28 against
