Stony Brook, NY- In their first game as the 20th ranked team in the nation, the Stony Brook Seawolves lived up to their high billing and pulled out an 11-7 victory. SB was paced by 3 goals from Larry Cerasi, along with Brian Adams 2 goal, 1 assist effort. Goalie Brendan Callahan managed 16 saves on the 37 shot effort by Marist.
Marist would first draw blood with an unassisted Pete O’Hara goal at the 13:18 mark. It would take only a minute for SB respond, with junior attack Rob Trenkel’s solo effort to tie the game at a goal a piece. This sparked a 3-0 run by the Seawolves that helped them close out the first quarter with a 4-2.
The Seawolves’ win brings their record to 3-1 overall, while keeping Marist (0-5) without a win this season. The Seawolves trail only #4 Albany in the America East conference, which is undefeated at 5-0.
Entering the second quarter, the Seawolves continued to out play the visitors and get a goal from both Senior Larry Cerasi and Freshman Tom Compitello. The remainder of the game was highlighted by Brendan Callahan’s 9 saves in the fourth quarter.
The Stony Brook Seawolves look to extend their streak to 4 games against upstate rival Lehigh. The game is at 4:00 at the Lavalle Stadium.
