Stony Brook’s Women’s Lacrosse team took the win against Brown this weekend, in the last minutes of game play with a 10-9 victory. The Seawolves were down 9-7 with 10:42 left in the game. Senior, Carlee Buck, gave the Seawolves a second chance by scoring her second goal of the game with 8:17 left to play. A minute later, Buck assisted sophomore Kaitlin Leggio with another goal.
With a heart-pounding 2:12 left in the game, sophomore, Jenna Celano was given a free-position shot where she connected with Katie Savino, who scored a game winning shot.
Amy Taylor scored three times during the course of the game. Buck and Celano trailed with two goals and one assist each. Leggio had one goal and two assists. Goalie, Jen Sandtorv had a total of 10 saves, including an amazing save on Brown’s, Mimi DeTolla with 23 seconds left in the game. Sandtorv picked up her second straight America East Defensive Player of the week.
This win against Brown gave the girls a 3-0 record. Their next game will be held at home against Denver on Mar. 11. The game will start at 12:00 PM.
