Stony Brook, NY- In just their second game of the season, the Seawolves jumped out to any early lead and never looked back, delivering a 22- 4 beat-down on visiting Lehigh. Wednesday’s contest saw Amy Taylor, Jenna Celano and Sam Strebel each net four goals. The team’s defense was’ also impressive, holding Lehigh to only 15 shots in the contest.
Senior Carlee Buck scored a goal and dished out 5 assists, bringing her career assist total to 103, an SB’ record. Buck led an offense that saw 11 players record at least one point- 10 of them scoring at least a goal.
The Seawolves got off to a quick start when reigning America East Rookie of the Year, Kaitlin Leggio, scored only 57 seconds into the contest. Coming off a 5-point performance in SB’s 11-10 season opener against Colgate, she now has 7 points in just 2 games.
Following Leggio’s early goal, the Seawolves would jump out to a 5-0 lead off a Taylor goal at the 18:46 mark. Lehigh would attempt to comeback with 4 goals, but still trailed the Seawolves 9-4 at the end of the half.
The second half saw an even more dominant performance from the Seawolves. The team scored 13 unanswered goals and blanked out Lehigh, who managed only 5 shots and no goals.
SB continues their 3-game home stand this Sunday, Mar. 4 against Brown,’ and a week later, on Mar. 11, in a home game against Denver.
