
The 2025 Undergraduate Student Government (USG) election results have been officially announced.
The new Executive Board for 2025-2026 academic year will be led by current Vice President of University Affairs Sarah Elbaroudy, who is set to become Executive President. She will be taking over the role from current Executive President Nistha Boghra. Elbaroudy won the election with 1,443 votes, surpassing her opponent, at-large Senator James Gill, who received 922 votes. Aside from those votes, 440 selected no confidence.
At-large Senator Russell Erfan will replace current Executive Vice President Ray Chen. Despite Erfan running unopposed and receiving 1,757 votes, 1,040 students voted no confidence.
Bonnie Wong will maintain her position as USG Treasurer despite facing opposition from Tina Li, a junior double majoring in applied math and statistics and business management. It was a tight race, as Li lost to Wong by only 107 votes. Wong received 1,176 votes and Li garnered 1,069 votes. 531 voters voted no confidence in this category.
At-large Senator Laiba Rajput will become Vice President of Communications, taking over from Lamia Rathi, who currently holds the position. Rajput won with 838 votes and ran against two opponents: Madison Jakaj and Shanell Rollon. Jakaj, a junior majoring in business management, received 774 votes, and Rollon, a sophomore double majoring in biochemistry and media/art/culture, came last with 515 votes.
Sebastian Adams, a sophomore majoring in psychology, will serve as Vice President of Student Life despite facing fierce competition from Victoria Komenkowski, a junior majoring in psychology. Adams received 1,128 votes and Komenkowski received 1,085 votes, losing by 43 votes. Adams will take over for current Vice President of Student Life Tanisa Rahman.
Stepping up to Elbaroudy’s current role is at-large Senator Ece Naz Durali. Similar to Erfan, Durali won 1,589 votes, but 1,175 students voted no confidence. Durali ran unopposed for the position.
At-large Senator Taher Motiwala will serve as Vice President of Clubs and Organizations, taking over from Aryan Sharma, who currently holds the position. Motiwala faced three competitors and obtained 885 votes. Antonios Manolas, a former at-large Senator, received 804 votes, at-large Senator Shriram Hegde received 381 votes and Makala Saldenha-Raye, a senior majoring in sociology, came last, receiving 366 votes. 246 students voted no confidence.
Chief Justice David Safo will remain in his position for the next academic year, fulfilling the full term length of a Chief Justice. Safo is set to graduate in spring 2026.
Only 23 at-large Senators were elected into the position through the general election. Two seats are reserved for representatives from the Commuter Student Association and the Residence Hall Association, who will respectively host their own elections to decide who will fulfill the roles.
