The Undergraduate Student Government (USG) announced on Monday, March 17 that pop artist Zara Larsson and R&B artist Tinashe will both be headlining Brookfest 2025 in an Instagram post made to their account.
Larsson is best known for her breakout songs “Lush Life” (2015), “Ain’t My Fault” (2016) and “Symphony” (2017). Despite “Symphony” having been released eight years ago, it regained popularity on TikTok in late 2024, with commentators using its audio to post life updates or funny statements with an image of jumping dolphins in the background.
Tinashe is renowned for hits like “2 On” featuring ScHoolboy Q (2014), “No Drama” featuring Offset (2018) and “Nasty” (2024). Following its rise as a viral dance trend on social media, particularly TikTok, “Nasty” became Tinashe’s first solo song to enter the Billboard Hot 100.
However, some students have pointed out that Zara Larsson was not an option students could vote for in USG’s Entertainment Poll released in fall 2024. In response, USG posted a breakdown and released an in-depth document explaining how they came to their decision of who would headline Brookfest.
Brookfest is scheduled for Friday, April 4 at Island Federal Arena, with doors set to open at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased both online at sbusgtickets.com and in-person at the USG Ticket Office near the “Why?” statute in the Student Activities Center. Only cash will be accepted for in-person purchases, and USG encourages students to purchase tickets online to avoid long lines. Ticket sales will start on Monday, March 24 at noon.
Bleacher tickets are $20, while floor tickets are $35. At the moment, Brookfest tickets are only available to undergraduate students. Tickets may open up to graduate students, guests, alumni and faculty depending on remaining ticket availability. The USG will post more information about this event on their Instagram account.
