In an email sent to the Stony Brook University campus shortly before 9 pm today, Dawn Smallwood, Chief of Police of University Police Department (UPD) and the Assistant Vice President for Campus Security, wrote that UPD is investigating a report of sexual assault that occurred at 3:00 AM on Monday, Sept. 2 on campus in a residential hall.
The victim contacted UPD this afternoon and reported that she met the suspect at an off-campus party, and she did not know him beforehand. She then returned to campus with the suspect.
The suspect is described as a “black male who appeared to be in his 20’s, approximately 6’4″ , with a mustache and facial hair on his chin, with short dark hair wearing a green short-sleeved shirt, blue jeans, and white Nike sneakers.”
