The Stony Brook Seawolves Men’s Basketball team was defeated by the Binghamton Bearcats 66-65. Wednesday’s loss came on a layup by Binghamton’s Mike Gordon as time expired. The loss dropped Stony Brook to 7-15, and 2-8 in conference play. Binghamton is now 10-12 overall, and 3-7 in conference play.
The game was back-and-forth for a while, but Stony Brook had managed to pull out an 11 point lead in the second half. However, as has been the story of their season, they were unable to hold that lead through the rest of the game.
Statistically, SBU was more accurate in their shooting, going 50% to Binghamton’s 35.7% on 3-point shots. They were also more accurate in field goals and free throws. However, they also committed 5 more turnovers than Binghamton. Stony Brook was led in scoring by Mitchell Beauford and Ricky Lucas, with 20 and 19 points, respectively.
Stony Brook visited UMBC on Saturday, Feb. 3, and play their next game on Feb. 11, when they host Hartford.
